Contract Consultant (Interim)
Contract Consultant – 4 month contract – Manchester (M1)- £17 per hour
The role is for a Contract Consultant within the Contract Management team based in Manchester. We are looking for an individual who has good contract/legal knowledge and experience of providing advice and support, which can be applied in a programme/project management context. They must be a team player and be able to work well with others.
The individual will need to ‘hit the ground running’ and support the Contract management Team, during a busy period whilst they undertake recruitment. The role includes providing advice and support to colleagues on contract enquiries, where they will be required to review, draft and negotiate contracts, provide basic procurement advice and support colleagues with the pursuit and delivery of a diverse range of business opportunities on contract related issues.
The Contract Consultant is responsible for managing a number of contract and procurement enquiries. The role provides essential level skills, knowledge and technical expertise in contract management, procurement and capability building.
The roles purpose is to provide contract management and procurement advice and guidance to all three SBUs globally, in order to support the pursuit and delivery of business opportunities that maximise benefits to the client and minimise risks. This will be undertaken in accordance with agreed policies and procedures, whilst supporting the development of the organisations’ capability in contract management and procurement.
The role will support the Senior Contract Consultant with growing internal capability, knowledge and the portfolio through supporting risk management in the procurement and contracting that is undertaken.
All Contract Consultants need to grow essential level business and commercial acumen skills and will support the flexible workforce.
Education/society sector Knowledge (level 1- Basic overview of all E&S thematic areas of work )
Has a basic understanding of all E&S thematic platforms and their key goals. Has knowledge of the role and interrelationships of each organisational function
Experience of contracting, contract management and related legal areas in international contexts.
Understanding of UK contract law and statutory requirements and how these are applied in a programme / project management context.
Competent across the range of IT systems and packages used by the business (SAP, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, database design and maintenance).
Project Management Experience
Knowledge, understanding and experience of using the procurement principles
Experience of providing effective internal and external consultancy services to internal / external clients in the area of contract and commercial management expertise.
Experience of utilising contracts as a risk management tool.
An understanding of E&S business process and the project lifecycle.
